Jess felt jealous
<=>
of his friend,
Jerry.
<=>
Jess felt angry
and
to him,
that felt scary.
<=>
Jerry
was handsome.
<=>
Jerry
was bright.
<=>
Jerry
had talents
<=>
that he
practiced
<=>
each day
and
each night.
<=>
Jess
thought
himself
to be a mess.
<=>
Jess
did not
feel neat
or
sweet
or
complete.
<=>
Jess
often
tripped over
his feet
<=>
while
walking down
the street.
<=>
He did
not feel good
about himself.
<=>
Someone
had told him
that he had
big ears
and
that he
looked like
an elf.
<=>
Jerry
liked to run
and
have fun.
<=>
He
always had
a joke
with a pun.
<=>
He
had many friends
and
the teachers
liked him too.
<=>
When Jess
looked at Jerry,
Jess felt
quite blue.
<=>
He
compared
himself
to Jerry
with all
that they
chose
to do.
<=>
Jess
did not want
to feel this way,
<=>
Jess
just knew
that he was
tired of
being blue.
<=>
Then,
one day,
Jess and Jerry
were on
the plaground.
<=>
Jess
saw something
that he
had not
before
found.
<=>
Jess
saw Jerry
stop
and
look around.
<=>
Then,
Jerry
fell off
from the
tricky bars,
very hard
upon the ground.
<=>
Without
any
hesitation,
Jess
was by
Jerry’s side.
<=>
Jess said,
“Jerry,
I will stay
with you
outside.”
<=>
Jerry
was groaning
for his arm
was full
of pain.
<=>
Then,
there was
lightening
and
it began
to rain.
<=>
Jess
called out
until he
got
someone’s
attention.
<=>
He
was acting fast
for help
and
for prevention.
<=>
A teacher
arrived
on the scene
and
handled things
quite well.
<=>
They helped
Jerry
with what
he needed
to get well.
<=>
All of a sudden,
Jess
could tell,
<=>
he
no longer
felt jealous
of Jerry
anymore.
<=>
He
cared about
Jerry
and
did not
want him
to feel poor.
